Woman Rescued by Firefighters in an Early Morning Blaze

A House is Gutted in an Early Morning Fire

A house fire just north of I-244 in Tulsa injures an elderly woman. Flames were shooting from the home near Admiral Place and Yorktown when fire crews arrived early this morning. Troy Taylor lives just a couple of doors down. He says he alerted firefighters about a woman inside, and she was rescued.

Firefighters pulled the unconscious woman from the burning structure. She was taken to a hospital and at last report was in stable condition. A dog inside the house was killed in the blaze. The cause is under investigation.

Investigators Look into a Fatal Tulsa House Fire

A woman is killed in a Tulsa house fire. Captain Stan May says crews found the body just inside the front door of a home in the 1900 block of E.Marshall, but had to quickly abandon the structure. He says it was unstable and unsafe and the roof was collapsing. Crews had to fight the blaze from outside.

The Medical Examiner will determine the exact cause of death. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Ground Broken for New Tulsa Fire Training Center

Dignitaries turn dirt for Tulsa's new Fire Safety Center

Ground is broken today for a new state-of-the-art fire training center in Tulsa. It’s a joint project of the city and Tulsa Community College. Chief Ray Driskell says it will be regional facility for firefighters from Tulsa and other communities.

The new fire safety training center is being built on the northeast campus of Tulsa Community College. Phase 1 should be finished in November, 2014.

Tulsa Firefighters Warn Drivers to be Careful in School Zones

Firefighters at Jenks Back to School

With classes going back into session, Tulsa firefighters start a very visible campaign to remind people to drive carefully in school zones.

Traffic is very heavy in front of Jenks elementary at 101st and Yale as parents and buses drop off kids for the first day of class. Fire trucks and other department vehicles are parked near the campus with big banners that say ‘Drive Safely, School’s Open’.

Assistant Fire Marshal Captain Ray Evins says the firefighters will be at school sites throughout the various districts as they open for class this week and next.

South Tulsa Apartment Fire

At least four people are injured in a South Tulsa apartment fire.

It happened this morning at about 10:30. The blaze was at Fairmont Terrace near 61st and Riverside Drive. Tulsa Fire Captain Stan May was on the scene. He says the intense flames gutted one-half of a 24-unit complex.

The Red Cross is assisting those displaced by the blaze.  The Red Cross will open a shelter for residents affected/ The shelter will be located at Crosstown Church of Christ, Admiral Place and Harvard.

Fire investigators are searching for the cause.

Tulsa Apartment Fire

Tulsa Fire fighters are dosing hot spots at the Red River Apartments near 71st and Riverside. An overnight blaze gutted several units at the complex.

15-people were left homeless. Fire fighters are looking for the cause. Fire fighters say it appears the blaze started in a second story apartment at the South Tulsa complex.

The Red Cross is assisting those displaced by the fire.
