Tulsa, OK – A grand jury is seated to look into the Skiatook School District's spending habits. The jury was seated yesterday by Presiding District Court Judge Thomas Thornburgh. The jury consists of four men and eight women.

The jury's hearings will be behind closed doors. They will look into a state auditor's report that shows the district wasted $750,000 on over prices supplies and alarm systems. The school board has accepted the resignation of then superintendent Gary Johnson.

Talala, OK – A semi overturned early Saturday on a stretch of Highway 169, one mile north of Talala in Rogers County. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says the truck was carrying hazardous chemcials and the area around the accident has been sealed off until the spill is contained and the wreckage removed. The OHP says that is expected to take most of Saturday morning.

Northbound travelers are being urged to take Highway 20 to U.S. 75, then north of 75 to Bartesville. Take Highway 60 east back to 169.

Tulsa, OK – TULSA, Okla. (AP) A Tulsa County judge has appointed the public defender's office to represent three young men charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of a barbecue restaurant employee. Special Judge David Youll yesterday set a July 14 preliminary hearing for 19-year-olds Isaiah Peevy and Deonte Marshall and 18-year-old D'Andre Finnie. The three are accused in the death of Howard Stoddard, a cook who was fatally shot May 20 at the Rib Crib in Tulsa.

Catoosa, OK – OHP: Catoosa officer's car hits, kills pedestrian

CATOOSA, Okla. (AP) Authorities say a woman has died after she was struck by a Catoosa police officer's car while walking in the middle of the road.

The accident happened about 5:15 a.m. Friday. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says the officer was traveling eastbound on a city street when his car crested a hill and he saw a couple walking in the roadway.

Authorities say the officer swerved to miss the couple but hit the woman, who died at the scene.

Oklahoma City, OK – Tax credits provide mixed bag for industry

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) State lawmakers working to close a $1.2 billion hole in next year's budget placed a two-year suspension on about two dozen tax credits offered by the state as incentives to businesses and industries.

But on the final day of the legislative session, a few industries managed to wriggle free from the bill and instead received a deferment for up to two years.

Tulsa, OK – 15 affected after chemical release in Tulsa

TULSA, Okla. (AP) An accidental hazardous chemical release at a Tulsa trucking company has affected 15 people, sending at least nine of them to an area hospital.

Tulsa Fire Department spokesman Bill French says a 55-gallon drum of chloromethyl naphthalene (NAF-thuh-len), a corrosive liquid, started leaking on a truck about 10 a.m. Friday at the Old Dominion Freight Line facility.

Tulsa, OK – The Tulsa Zoo gets slapped with a five thousand dollar fine from the Department of Agriculture. This follows the death of a giraffe at the zoo in January. Tests show the animal died of hypothermia.

The zoo was cited for not keeping the giraffe warm, inadequate authority given to the zoo vet and the poor condition of the giraffe barn.
