Tulsa, OK – A Tulsa Police cruiser was involved in an early Sunday morning traffic crash at I-44 and Memorial. Officials say the officer was en-route to assist on another police call when he entered the intersection with his lights flashing. A motorcycle rider failed to yield the right of way and was struck by the police car. Two people on the cycle were injured and taken to the hospital. The incident happened shortly after five on Sunday morning.

Tulsa, OK – Okla. teen charged with murder in robbery attempt

TULSA, Okla. (AP) Tulsa County prosecutors have charged a teenager with felony murder in the attempted armed robbery of a store that left his alleged 14-year-old accomplice dead.

The 15-year-old also was charged as an adult Friday with attempted robbery with a firearm.

Undated – Tulsa defense bounces back in 41-14 victory

TULSA, Okla. (AP) One week after allowing 65 points and 722 yards to Oklahoma State, Tulsa's maligned defense limited Central Arkansas to 319 yards in a 41-14 victory Saturday.

G.J. Kinne threw for 232 yards and three touchdowns and Alex Singleton ran for 93 yards as Tulsa (2-2) gained 282 yards rushing and 539 overall.

Kevin Fitzpatrick added two field goals and the defense forced two turnovers that were converted into touchdowns.

Oklahoma City, OK – Judge sets hearing on Okla. inmate's execution

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) A federal judge has set an October hearing on whether an inmate's execution should go on as scheduled or be delayed because of a shortage of an anesthetic used in the process.

Donald Ray Wackerly II is set to die Oct. 14, but another inmate is scheduled for execution two days later.

The Oklahoman reports that only one dose of sodium thiopental, the first drug administered in the execution protocol, is available.

Purcell, OK – 4 killed in accident in south-central Oklahoma

PURCELL, Okla. (AP) Authorities say four people were killed in a single-vehicle accident in McClain County.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said the accident happened just after 1:30 a.m. Saturday on U.S. 77 about three miles south of Purcell.

Oklahoma City, OK – Dem supt candidate won't take stand on SQ 744

NORMAN, Okla. (AP) One of the candidates seeking to become Oklahoma's next state superintendent is declining to take a public stand on State Question 744.

The proposed constitutional amendment would require the state within three years to meet the regional average of per-student spending in the six states bordering Oklahoma. Gov. Brad Henry says it may be the most important state question considered by voters in 20 years.

Tulsa, Ok – NEW YORK (AP) Hertz says its bid for Dollar Thrifty is its best and final offer, even though Avis has sweetened its own bid for the Tulsa-based rental chain. Dollar Thrifty shareholders will have a special meeting next week to vote on the Hertz offer of $50.25 per share.

Sapulpa, OK – Authorities say device at Okla. school not a bomb

SAPULPA, Okla. (AP) Authorities have determined that a suspicious device found in a Sapulpa junior high school wasn't a bomb.

The discovery of the device about 9:05 a.m. Friday triggered the evacuation of about 2,000 students from the elementary, junior high and high schools in the city just west of Tulsa. The schools are located close together.

Tulsa, OK – Emergency officials are investigating a traffic crash on Highway 169 at 71st Street. It appears a truck ran off the north bound bridge and landed near 71st street. There are reports of injuries from motorist on 71st street. No word at this point on the truck driver's condition. The driver was taken to the hospital.

Sapulpa, OK – SAPULPA, Okla. (AP) Sapulpa school officials say about 2,000 students from elementary, junior and high schools were evacuated after a potential pipe bomb was found inside a room in the junior high school.

Sapulpa police Maj. Mike Haefner says a Tulsa police bomb technician was brought in to evaluate the device, which was found about 9:05 a.m. Friday.

School Superintendent Mary Webb said officials decided to evacuate the schools as a precaution. The buildings are in proximity to each other.
