Tulsa, OK – 2 Okla police officers remain in custody

TULSA, Okla. (AP) Two Tulsa police officers indicted in a corruption scandal will remain behind bars.

U.S. Magistrate Paul Cleary on Friday ordered Jeff Henderson and Bill Yelton be held in custody without bond.

Tulsa, OK – GOP looks to extend majorities in House, Senate

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Oklahoma Republican Party officials say they're taking nothing for granted in this year's elections for state House and Senate seats, but it's hard for them to hide their optimism.

The Oklahoma Legislature was essentially controlled by the Democratic Party since statehood, but Republicans captured the Oklahoma House in 2004 and, for the first time in state history, the Senate in 2008.

Tulsa, OK – The intersection of 111th Street South and Sheridan Road has been a source of traffic congestion for years. Recently, Tulsa County teamed with the cities of Tulsa and Bixby to expand and refit the intersection. This project is one of several in the recent past where Tulsa County partners with a municipality to build infrastructure.

Tulsa, Okla. – Police officers proven to have been untruthful during any official investigation will now face only one form of punishment: termination.

Interim Police Chief Chuck Jordan announced the new policy this morning in a statement with Mayor Bartlett and Tulsa Fraternal Order of Police President Phil Evans. The new policy extends the Tulsa Police Department's Rule 6 "Duty to be Truthful and Obedient."

Kingfisher, OK – FAA: 2 killed in Okla. medical helicopter crash

KINGFISHER, Okla. (AP) The two killed in the crash of a medical helicopter in Oklahoma have been identified as the pilot and a nurse. A paramedic on board was injured.

Authorities say the Eaglemed helicopter was on its way to pick up a patient when it crashed about 8 p.m. Thursday near Kingfisher about 50 miles northwest of Oklahoma City.

Tulsa, OK – A hearing will resume next Thursday as to whether self-confessed rapist Douglas Polk will be allowed to recant his guilty plea to raping young girls.

Among the cases he is accused of involved a five-year-old Broken Arrow girl who sexually assaulted and left abandon along a rural road.

Polk was sentenced to six life terms last month. After the sentence was handed down, he announced he wanted to change his plea.

Tahlequah, OK – Okla candidates say state must address social ills

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. (AP) Oklahoma's major candidates for governor say the state must address a number of social ills, but they differ on how to lower high rates of smoking, drug abuse and poor health.

At a candidate forum in Tahlequah, Lt. Gov. Jari Askins said Oklahomans need to learn more about healthy lifestyles and that the state's network of county health departments can help spread the word.
