Tulsa, OK – The high fuel prices are taking a bite out of already tight school budgets. Tulsa Public Schools Transportation Director Ottaway Burkhaulter is pleased that a large portion of Tulsa's school buses have been converted to CNG.
He tells the OETA otherwise the budget crunch would be much worse. He says the savings are off-setting the fuel price hikes for the rest of the fleet.
The Tulsa School District has 140-buses using C-N-G.
Undated – Okla governor issues state of emergency for fires
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) With wildfires sweeping across Oklahoma, Gov. Mary Fallin has declared a state of emergency for all 77 counties in the state.
The declaration issued Friday also marks a first step toward seeking federal assistance should it be necessary. Under the executive order, state agencies can make emergency purchases and acquisitions needed to expedite the delivery of resources to local jurisdictions.
Taking advantage of spring break to work near Memorial High School, the contractor working on East 61st Street between South Yale Avenue and South Sheridan Road will resurface the intersection of East 61st Street and South Hudson Avenue beginning Monday, March 14.
South Hudson Avenue will be closed at East 61st Street during work at the intersection, which will continue through Friday, March 18. The contractor will replace damaged concrete pavement.
Jenks, OK – The Tulsa County Sheriff's Office, at the request of the City of Jenks and the Jenks Police Department, aid in law enforcements efforts in the Jenks River Walk area over the last couple of weekends.
Sheriff's Deputies and ABLE Commissions Agents combined efforts with the Jenks Police Department to combat some of the less desirable conduct and illegal activity in this two block area, specifically focused on areas where the adult entertainment, alcohols sales and minors congregate.
Tulsa, OK – Governor Fallin is declining to get involved in the ruckus at Tulsa City Hall. In a letter to City Councilor John Eagleton, the Governor said she was not going to exercise her power to call for an investigation regarding Eagleton's allegations against Mayor Bartlett. Eagleton had wanted Fallin to order the Attorney General to begin an ouster investigation against the mayor.
