Tulsa, OK – Drillers donating money to storm victims

TULSA, Okla. (AP) The Tulsa Drillers are joining other Minor League Baseball teams in helping raise funds for people affected by devastating floods and tornadoes in the south.

Team officials say 15 percent of the Drillers' online merchandise sales from May 16 to May 30 will be donated to Minor League Baseball Charities and distributed to relief organizations.

Oklahoma City, OK – Okla. House OKs consolidation of state IT services

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) A key part of Republican Gov. Mary Fallin's agenda to consolidate the computer services of state agencies has been approved in the House.

The House voted 61-31 for a bill late Tuesday that would consolidate the structure, operation and purchasing procedures for the state's information technology, or IT, services.

Tulsa, OK – Okla. House shoots down immigration proposal

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Facing opposition from both sides of the aisle, the House author of a plan to target illegal immigration in Oklahoma says the bill won't be reconsidered this year after the House shot down the latest version of the measure.

The Republican-controlled House voted 62-31 on Tuesday against adopting the bill that focused mostly on human smugglers and others who prey on illegal immigrants.

Oklahoma City, OK – Transportation bond issue fails in Okla. Senate

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) A transportation bond issue considered a critical component of the $6.5 billion budget deal to fund state government has failed to pass the Oklahoma Senate.

A handful of Republicans joined Democrats in the Senate on Tuesday to oppose the $70 million bond issue for the Oklahoma Department of Transportation.

Oklahoma City, OK – Okla. House Democrats re-elect Inman as leader

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Oklahoma House Democrats have re-elected Rep. Scott Inman of Del City to a second term as the leader of the House's minority party.

Inman was re-elected to the leadership post during caucus elections on Monday. He was initially elected in April 2009 and spent much of 2010 working alongside former Democratic Leader Danny Morgan of Prague.

Oklahoma City, OK – Okla. gov OKs tax credits for private scholarships

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Gov. Mary Fallin has signed a bill authorizing taxpayer-subsidized scholarships for students whose families meet certain income requirements or who live in low-performing school districts.

The bill Fallin signed Monday has been hailed by proponents as a victory for school choice, but critics question why state money is being used to pay for scholarships to send students to private schools.

Tulsa, OK – Mayor Bartlett to lead half-mile walk downtown

TULSA, Okla. (AP) Mayor Dewey Bartlett is hoping other Tulsans follow his example and take a walk to get healthier.

Bartlett and his wife, Victoria, are leading a half-mile walk through the historical Blue Dome district Tuesday as part of the mayor's "Get Lean Tulsa" initiative.

The event starts at 11:30 a.m. at Dilly Deli downtown. The first 20 participants to request "The Dewey" will receive free salads.
