Tulsa, OK – Two members of the Tulsa City Council want to be judges. Council chair Rick Westcott and District seven councilman John Eagleton both plan to apply for special district judgeships.
There are two judgeships open. If appointed they would have to resign from the council and close their law practices.
The judgeships pays $105,000 per year. City Councilors get $18,000

Tulsa, OK – U.S. Attorney Thomas Scott Woodward announced that a California man has pleaded guilty in federal court in Tulsa to trafficking in opium.
Wang Chong Khang (aka Pao Lee and Dao Lee), 25, of Oroville, California, pleaded guilty today to Possession of Opium with Intent to Distribute. Chief U.S. District Judge Claire Eagan set his sentencing date for June 8, 2010. Khang faces up to 20 years imprisonment and a fine of up to $1 million. He was indicted by the Grand Jury in January 2010.
Tulsa, OK – The Tulsa Police Department has just opened their new Amber/Silver Alert Operations Center. The center was primarily set up for use during an Amber Alert or Silver Alert, but is multi functional in design allowing the department to utilize it during any emergency operation.
Tulsa, OK – This is election day in Tulsa. Patrons of the Tulsa Public Schools are going to the polls to decide the fate of $354,000,000 in school bonds. The bonds would be used for buses, books and buildings.
The bonds would replace expiring bonds and would not result in a tax increase. However, if the bonds fail, taxes would go down.
ALVA, Okla. (AP) The U.S. Supreme Court has rejected an appeal by Missouri Gas Energy of a tax bill it received for stored natural gas in Oklahoma.
The Kansas City, Mo.-based company had appealed the decision by Woods County Assessor Monica Schmidt to tax the gas stored in natural caverns in Woods County. The court on Monday declined to hear the company's appeal.
