Tulsa, OK – Boxer Morrison defends himself in Kan. pot arrest
WICHITA, Kan. (AP) Former heavyweight boxing champion Tommy Morrison says his arrest in Kansas on suspicion of marijuana possession is "not what it seems."
The 41-year-old said Friday it all started Thursday night when he was sitting outside a Wichita gym, reading his Bible and meditating, before going in to lift weights. He suspects someone thought he looked suspicious and called police.
Tulsa, oK – No one is hurt as an airplane makes an emergency landing short of the runway at the Jones Riverside Airport in Tulsa. In fact, the land touched down in the Arkansas River. The pilot and a passenger were uninjured, but had to be rescued by the Tulsa fire department. The emergency landing happened about 2:30 on Saturday afternoon.
Oklahoma City, OK – White House approves aid request for ice storm
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) The White House has approved Gov. Brad Henry's request for a major disaster declaration for the Jan. 28 ice storm.
Under the declaration issued Friday, 25 counties will receive public assistance for expenses related to response to and recovery from the winter storm that left 179,000 homes and businesses, mainly in southern Oklahoma, without power at one point.
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) The Oklahoma House has passed legislation to protect tenants of mobile home and RV parks from tornados and other natural disasters.
A bill passed Thursday requires the owner of a mobile home or RV park to provide tenants with an evacuation plan in case of a tornado, high winds or flooding. The plan must be developed with the help of emergency planners in the city or county where the park is located.
