Veto Override in the House

Oklahoma City, OK – Okla. House overrides health care bill veto

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) The Oklahoma House has overridden Gov. Brad Henry's veto of legislation to allow Oklahomans to opt out of a new federal health care overhaul law.

The House voted 72-24 without debate Tuesday to override the veto, more than the two-thirds vote needed for the measure to go into effect without Henry's signature. The Senate is expected to consider an override later this week.

Tulsa, OK – It looked real but it wasn't!

First responders go through the paces at an airport disaster drill. Tulsa area agencies took part in today's drill. Airport spokeswoman Alexis Higgins says such dress- rehearsals are important.

Under the scenario, a jetliner made a rough landing after hitting a flock of birds on final approach, leaving injured passengers on board.

EMSA's Chris Stevens says it was a great training exercise for his paramedics.

Fatal Shooting

Tulsa, OK – Police investigating killing in Okla. park

TULSA, Okla. (AP) Tulsa police are investigating a fatal shooting at a city park.

Officers say they were responding to an unrelated call when they heard several gunshots just before 11 p.m. Sunday. Sgt. Steve Stoltz says a group of people flagged the officers down.

Officers found 22-year-old Marcus Lewis, who had collapsed in the street from several gunshot wounds to the chest and neck. Stoltz says Lewis died before medics could arrive.

Yerton Faces New Charges

Tulsa, Ok – Another charge is filed against Skelly Elementary Vice Principal Robert Yerton, Junior.

A teenager says he was molested nine years ago in the restroom of the Disney Elementary School, where Yerton once worked.

Three other boys have come forward with allegations against Yerton, who has been a teacher youth minister and worked with the Boy Scouts for over 20-years.

Police are asking anyone who believes they had inappropriate contact with Yerton to call the Police Child Crisis Unit at 669-6504

Mall Shooting Update

Muskogee, OK – Okla. judge refuses to remove prosecutor in mall shooting

MUSKOGEE, Okla. (AP) Muskogee County District Attorney Larry Moore will not be removed as prosecutor in the deadly Muskogee mall shooting case.

Special District Judge Robin Adair rejected the motion by the attorney for 25-year-old Tenesha Nunley to remove prosecutor Larry Moore. Defense attorney James Walters argued that Moore could be called as a witness because Nunley made incriminating statements to him before being read her rights.
