Oklahoma City, OK – Former state senator joins AG race
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) A former state senator and current co-owner of the Oklahoma City RedHawks minor-league baseball team says he plans to launch a campaign for attorney general.
Republican Scott Pruitt released a statement Monday indicating he will seek the post being vacated by Democratic Attorney General Drew Edmondson, who is running for governor.
The 41-year-old Pruitt served in the Oklahoma Senate from 1998 to 2006, when he lost to then-House Speaker Todd Hiett in the Republican primary in the lieutenant governor's race.
Pruitt also ran unsuccessfully for Congress in 2001.
He now is the managing partner of the RedHawks, a Triple-A franchise.
Other GOP candidates running for attorney general are state Sen. Clark Jolley and Ryan Leonard.
