Tulsa, OK – Against a backdrop of approximately 200 table-sized workshop maps filled with the ideas of over 1,500 Tulsans, City officials gathered in the Grand Lobby of the BOK Arena to announce the results of a new survey completed by over 5,500 Tulsans. The survey results indicated that the public strongly supports land use and transportation changes in the coming decades. Citizen input from these surveys will be combined with other research and analysis to develop a new comprehensive plan.

Soldier Killed

Duncan, OK – Services set for Duncan soldier


DUNCAN, Okla. (AP) Funeral services are now scheduled for a soldier from Duncan who was killed in Afghanistan.

Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. in Frontier Chapel at Fort Sill for 34-year-old Pfc. Dennis Pratt.

Pratt was one of four soldiers killed July 20 when the Humvee they were in was hit by rocket-propelled grenades. He was assigned to the 4th Battalion, 25th Field Artillery, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry) of Fort Drum, N.Y.

Stillwater Damage

Stillwater, OK – Storm leaves damage in Stillwater


STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) At least one home was heavily damaged and about 5,000 homes and businesses lost electricity when a powerful thunderstorm rolled through Stillwater and northern Oklahoma.

Authorities say there were no reports of injuries, but dozens of utility poles in the area were snapped or blown over by straight-line winds Tuesday night.

The National Weather Service reported a wind gust of 70 mph near Stillwater.

Cattle Rustling is Back

Tulsa, OK – Cattle rustling on the rise in Oklahoma

MIDWEST CITY, Okla. (AP) Agriculture officials say cattle rustling is rising in Oklahoma and they blame the economy and the ease with which cattle can be stolen and sold.

Oklahoma Agriculture Department Special Agent Jerry Flowers told members of the Oklahoma Cattlemen's Association Thursday that 1,076 head of cattle have been reported stolen this year.

He said fewer than 550 head were stolen in all of 2008.

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Oklahoma oil producers say a glut of crude at the massive Cushing oil storage terminal is driving down the cost of oil they produce.

Oilmen appeared before the Oklahoma Corporation Commission Tuesday to discuss the problem and suggest solutions. The commission regulates public utilities and the oil and gas industry.
