Grove, OK – Boy mauled by dog

GROVE, Okla. (AP) Authorities say an 11-year-old boy underwent surgery after being mauled by a Great Dane.

According to a police report, Troy Helms was attacked by the dog after falling at the Strut Your Mutt dog walk at Grand Lake on Saturday. Helms received more than 100 stitches.

Humane Society vice president Lori Follis says she saw the dog bite the boy and clamp down on his face and neck.

New CEO at Red Cross

Tulsa, OK – The American Red Cross is pleased to announce that Regina Moon will be the new CEO of the Tulsa Area Chapter.

She will begin Monday, Oct. 19. Additionally, the new board of directors will be appointed and Moon introduced at the Red Cross annual meeting at 5 p.m. Oct. 22 at the Red Cross, 10151 E. 11th St. The public is invited to attend the meeting.

Four year old Dies of Swine Flu

Tulsa, OK – A four year old is the latest in Tulsa County to die of the flu. KWGS News has been told it has been confirmed that the child did have the H1N1 virus. That was confirmed this morning by the state health department.


The Tulsa Health Department, meanwhile, has received another 7,400 H1N1 vaccines, in various formats, and will continue its school inoculation program
