Oklahoma City, OK – Regulators to take up wind farm plan

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) The Oklahoma Corporation Commission is considering final approval of the University of Oklahoma's plan to power its Norman campus entirely by wind.

The plan has been agreed to by officials at OU, Oklahoma Gas and Electric Co., the attorney general's office and other groups. The three-member commission is scheduled to consider a final order on Wednesday.

Poultry Lawsuit

Tulsa, OK – Cherokees file appeal to in poultry case

TULSA, Okla. (AP) The Cherokee Nation has appealed a federal judge's ruling that blocked the tribe from joining Oklahoma's water pollution lawsuit against 11 Arkansas poultry companies.

The tribe submitted its appeal Monday to the Denver-based 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, the Tulsa World reported in Tuesday's editions.

H1N1: On the Run

Oklahoma City, OK – Swine flu seen as declining in Oklahoma

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) State health officials say the swine flu appears to be declining in the state.

But officials also warn that pandemics come in waves.

State Health Department spokesman Larry Weatherford says the number of people hospitalized has fallen significantly each of the past three weeks. He says the decline gives people a chance to get vaccinated in the event another wave of swine flu comes through the state.

Election Lawsuit

Oklahoma City, OK – Jones sues over lost elections

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) State Republican Party Chairman Gary Jones has filed a lawsuit that claims he was cheated out of election as state auditor and inspector in 2002 and 2006.

Jones filed the lawsuit Monday in Logan County. It asks for unspecified damages from former Auditor and Inspector Jeff McMahan and his wife, former state Sen. Gene Stipe and former Auditor Clifton Scott, among others.

Bartlesville, OK – Bartlesville to begin furloughing workers

BARTLESVILLE, Okla. (AP) More than a dozen directors and supervisors in Bartlesville will begin furloughs next month as a result of slumping sales tax revenues.

The 26 city employees will be furloughed one day each month, for seven months, in a move expected to save the city about $5,000 each month.

City Manager Ed Gordon says employees will have the option of taking vacation or comp days for the furlough days.

Winning Ticket from Oklahoma

Oklahoma City, OK – SE Oklahoma store sells $32.8M Powerball ticket

KIOWA, Okla. (AP) A convenience store in southeastern Oklahoma has sold a Powerball ticket worth $32.8 million.

The Powerball numbers drawn Saturday night were 7, 26, 36, 49 and 58, with the Powerball number being 4. The winner bought the ticket at a Kwik Chek store in the Pittsburg County town of Kiowa.

State lottery officials say they had not heard from the ticket's owner as of early Monday afternoon.
