McAlester, OK – DEQ issues boil advisory

McALESTER, Okla. (AP) The Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality says E. coli has been detected in the drinking water at an alcohol and drug treatment center in Pittsburg County.

DEQ officials on Friday issued a boil advisory for Narconon-Arrowhead after water samples indicated the presence of the bacteria.

Tulsa, OK – The emergency room is the last place parents want to take their little ghosts and goblins on Halloween night, and Attorney General Drew Edmondson and the Oklahoma Association of Chiefs of Police (OACP) are reminding parents, children and motorists to be safe.

"It's great fun for the kids to dress up as their favorite superhero or princess and roam the neighborhood collecting candy," Edmondson said. "But don't let the excitement of the night turn into a spooky trip to the hospital."

Red Oak, OK – Ground search called off for missing family

RED OAK, Okla. (AP) After nearly two weeks of searching through the heavily wooded Sans Bois Mountain area, the Latimer County Sheriff's Office has called off its ground search for a missing Eufaula family.

Latimer County Sheriff Israel Beauchamp said Friday investigators still are chasing leads in the disappearance of 44-year-old Bobby Dale Jamison, his wife, 40-year-old Sherrilyn, and the couple's 6-year-old daughter, Madyson.

Tulsa, OK – Tulsa Fire Fighters are search for the cause of an early afternoon fire near 4600 South Maplewood.

A 90-year-old man was in the home and was treated at the scene by fire paramedics. After several minutes, paramedics were able to restore the man's pulse. He was rushed to St Francis hospital by EMSA in critical condition.

The man has been identified as Lee Coleman. His daughter was also on the scene according to Tulsa fire officials.

Tulsa, OK – School face prospect of more funding cuts

TULSA, Okla. (AP) State education officials say schools are facing more budget cuts and that a revolving fund that provides more than 25 percent of funding for schools is nearly empty.

Assistant State Superintendent James White said Thursday that if school cuts occur some districts may be consolidated or closed. White said at a state Board of Education meeting that many districts will have trouble finishing this year.

Tulsa, OK – A donation by the Hillcrest Foundation to the Tulsa Community Foundation, will allow the sale of eight City of Tulsa Police horses to use in non-profit programs such as the Tulsa Boys home and other equestrian programs in the city.

Tulsa, OK – OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Oklahoma health officials say at least 18 people have now died of complications from swine flu.This has an estimated 1,000 people lined up at the Tulsa Community College Northeast Campus for free H1N1 vaccinations.

According to the Oklahoma State Health Department's weekly update on H1N1 activity released Thursday, six influenza-associated deaths were reported between Oct. 18 and Oct. 24.

Seventeen deaths have been attributed to swine flu since Sept. 1, and one death was reported in June.
