Duncan, OK – Duncan to lose 150 Halliburton jobs to transfers

DUNCAN, Okla. (AP) Halliburton Co. plans to transfer about 150 employees in Duncan to a research and development facility being built in Houston.

The company began telling employees of its plans last week. Among the employees to be relocated from the company's former hometown are chemists and engineers. About 400 employees work at Halliburton's technology center in Duncan.

Tulsa, OK – The Tulsa City Council okays rising the fares for the Tulsa Transit's Lift program. Lift transports the elderly and disabled who cannot easily use regular mass transit. The council okayed raising the fare from $2.50 to $3.00 per trip. The Americans With Disabilities Act limits how much the city can charge for the service.

In other council action, The council agreed to repurpose a federal grant to rehiring 35-of the laid-off Tulsa Police officers. That means 89-officers are still out of work.

Tulsa, OK – Two Tulsa Fire-Fighters are hurt overnight while doing battle with a building fire. It happened at a strip-mall near 21st and South Garnett.

The two fire-fighters were fighting the blaze from inside a bar when they both tripped and fell off a platform. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Public Radio Tulsa – On Monday at 4:00 pm, Classical 88.7 HD1 presents a special program devoted to Frederic Chopin's 200th birth anniversary, featuring the American pianist Garrick Ohlsson in a solo recital recorded earlier that day in Chopin's birthplace of Warsaw, Poland.

This program is remarkable in that Ohlsson, the first and only American to win the prestigious Chopin International Competition, was selected from all the pianists worldwide for this honor; second, the recital will be given in Poland the morning of March 1, Chopin's birth date.
