The Tulsa Symphony Orchestra is performing two “Bugs Bunny on Broadway” concerts, which will feature classic Warner Bros. Studios cartoons projected on a large movie screen as the TSO plays their scores in live accompaniment. Today we talk with guest conductor George Daugherty, who also created this show.

“Nimrod International Journal,” the long-running literary magazine produced at the University of Tulsa, has just put out its Spring/Summer 2007 issue, and an evening of readings, music, and dancing is planned to mark this publication. Both the new issue and the gala evening are entitled “Crossing Borders.” Today, we get the scoop on all this from Francine Ringold, editor-in-chief of “Nimrod,” and Claudia Nogueira, an English professor at TU whose work appears in the issue.

Dr. Michael Berenbaum, noted Holocaust scholar, author, editor, and lecturer, joins us for a conversation about his work, and about his upcoming visit to Tulsa. He’ll be the keynote speaker at tomorrow night’s Yom Hashoah Commemoration. Dr. Berenbaum is also a rabbi, documentary film producer, and historical consultant.

Today we re-broadcast a discussion with autism-research advocate and activist Portia Iversen, author of “Strange Son: Two Mothers, Two Sons, and the Quest to Unlock the Hidden World of Autism.” First published in December, this book describes how two families—one in the U.S., the other in India—have reshaped our current understanding of what autism is, and how it should be treated.
