Man Killed While Taking Out the Trash

Detectives are investigating the city’s latest homicide. Officer Leland Ashley says the victim was found dead outside his home near 3300 North Garrison early Wednesday morning. He was apparently taking out his trash, when witnesses say an SUV drove up and multiple shots were fired at the man.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. Ashley says most of the city’s homicides this year have been solved quickly with arrests made. He urges anyone with information about this latest killing to call Crimestoppers.

Tulsa Cops to Crack Down in School Zones

Monday, the kids are heading back to class after the holidays, and Tulsa police will crack down on speeders and reckless drivers in school zones. Officer Leland Ashley says drivers need to be aware as classes resume after winter break. He says no warnings will be issued, if stopped in a school zone, you will get a ticket..and fines can be hefty, up to 500 dollars.

Tulsa Police: 146 Violent Gang Members Off Streets

TULSA, Okla. (AP) — Authorities in Tulsa say more than 140 violent gang members were taken off the streets during a recent operation.

Officials say they also recovered 29 guns, $20,000 in cash and more than $22,000 in cocaine and other drugs during the operation, which ran from August to October.

Push-ups at Stop Lead to Tulsa Police Lawsuit

TULSA, Okla. (AP) — Two Tulsa police officers are facing a federal civil rights by a man who claims he was forced to do push-ups along a roadside after an officer searched his vehicle.

Court papers show 24-year-old Brian Lumpkin filed suit on Friday against Tulsa police Officers James Bohanon and Kevin Warne.

Suspect in Motel Stand-Off Dead, Police Say Self Inflicted Wound

The Days Inn Hotel at I-244 and North Sheridan was the scene this morning of a Police stand-off with a Tulsa homicide suspect.

Police cornered Eliboreo Carrillo in one of the rooms. Other guests at the hotel were evacuated.

Carrillo was wanted for the murder of his ex-wife’s boyfriend last night in Tulsa. The area around the hotel was sealed off from about 1:30 this morning till around 10AM.

Son Arrested in Mom's Tulsa Murder

A Tulsa man is arrested after his mother is found stabbed to death on her porch near the Fairgrounds. Police say 43-year-old Veronica Stick was found at her home in the 3900 block of East 24th Street on Friday afternoon. The discovery was made about 3:15PM.

Officials located her son, several miles away, and took him to police headquarters for questioning. While no motive is known, 20-year-old William Stick was arrested on a complaint of First Degree Murder. He is being held in the Tulsa Jail.

2 Die in Early Morning Motorcycle Crash in Tulsa

TULSA, Okla. (AP) — Authorities say two people are dead after a motorcycle crash in east Tulsa early Thursday morning.

Tulsa police say the crash happened at about 2 a.m. in the Regency Park subdivision. Authorities say the motorcycle was likely traveling too fast when the driver failed to negotiate a curve in the road and crashed into two parked cars in a driveway.

Police say the man driving the motorcycle was killed instantly. His female passenger died later Thursday.

Authorities say neither person was wearing a helmet.

Truck Hits Gate at Tulsa Police Parking Lot

TULSA, Okla. (AP) — Authorities in Oklahoma say a man driving a pickup truck crashed into a gate guarding a Tulsa police parking lot.

Tulsa television station KOTV reports a man and a woman were inside the truck that came to a stop in the parking lot surrounded by police cars on Sunday.

Tulsa Police Sgt. Tim Lewandowski says the people inside the truck claimed they were being chased by someone with a gun.

The woman was questioned and released. The driver was taken into custody.

Lewandowski said he thought the gate would cost about $3,000 to repair.

Three Shot in South Tulsa Overnight

Tulsa Police are investigating an early morning shooting spree in south Tulsa. The incident took place overnight near 63^rd and South Owasso Place.

Two men and a man were found in the street. One of the women is in extremely critical condition. The other two are in serious condition this morning.

Police are trying to figure out why they were shot and by whom.

Tulsa Man Looking for Crawdads Finds Much More

TULSA, Okla. (AP) — A man looking for crawfish found a body along a riverbank in eastern Oklahoma. Tulsa television station KOTV reports that the man found the body on the east bank of the Arkansas River shortly after midnight. Authorities in Tulsa say the body of an unidentified man was in an advanced state of decomposition, and police believe the death was from natural causes. Police say an investigation is under way. ___
